Beautiful House in Velika Planina with Terrace, Barbecue and Garden and Wonderful View
Chalet Pehta - Velika PlaninaThis is a typical Slovenian shepherd’s chalet on a big mountain meadow (Velika planina).On the outside it looks like a traditional wooden chalet, but inside it provides all the comfort of a private home. It was built in 1964 and has been renovated extensively in the last five years. The chalet is ideal for families and small groups. The living room with a kitchen has a wood-burning stove and a large table for 12 people. You can cook on a wood-burning stove or gas stove. The bathroom with a shower cubicle and a WC has been fully renovated. There is also a washbasin in the entrance area. The living room is heated with wood, the bathroom with an electric radiator.In front of the chalet there are benches and tables and you can enjoy a wonderful view of the whole mountain chain of the Kamnik-Savinj Alps.At Velika planina you can simply relax in fantastic natural surroundings, go on short walks on flat paths, or on mountain hikes of several days on the highest peaks of the Kamnik Alps (Planjava, Ojstrica…). The area is also popular among mountain biking enthusiasts. We can offer bicycle rental and mountain equipment, to be booked in advance. During the winter, it is a popular trip destination for winter sports. You can ski to the nearby pistes and back to the chalet. There are many cross-country skiing trails, or you can go on snow shoe hikes in fascinating surroundings. In the summer, the shepherd’s museum offers an insight into the local Slovenian cultural heritage and visitors come into direct contact with today’s shepherds. The area belongs geographically to the high mountain karst. Fresh milk, mountain cheese and other natural products can be purchased from the local shepherds. All the mountain chalets offer delicious local specialities. The nearest mountain chalet is just a five-minute walk away.
